Denali National Park: Getting to the park

Driving to Denali Park takes about five hours from Anchorage, three from Fairbanks, and hitching is quite easy with twenty hours of summer daylight. Several bus companies run services from Anchorage to Fairbanks via Denali: Parks Highway Express (tel 1-888/600-6001, ) charges $49 from Anchorage and $34 from Fairbanks. One Denali-bound train a day leaves Anchorage (8.15am; $125) and Fairbanks (8.15am; $50), depositing you at 4pm and noon respectively at the train station a mile and a half inside the park entrance. Park entry costs $5 per person and is valid for a week.
