The Fred Harvey Company (contact the "transportation desks" in the South Rim lodges, or call 928/638-2401) runs at least two short daily coach tours along the rim to the west ($14) and east ($25) of the village, sunrise and sunset trips to Yavapai Point ($10), and mule rides to Phantom Ranch (from $315). It also operates a five-hour Smooth Water River Raft Excursion through Marble Canyon ($87); whitewater rafting trips in the canyon proper - such as those run by Western River Expeditions (tel 801/942-6669 or 1-800/453-7450, ) - are booked up literally years in advance, so this is probably your only chance of a trip along the river at short notice.

Airplane tours cost from around $75 for 30min ($45 child) up to as long as you like for as much as you've got. Operators include Air Grand Canyon (tel 928/638-2686 or 1-800/AIR-GRAND) and Grand Canyon Airlines (tel 928/638-2407 or 1-800/528-2413). Helicopter tours , from $100 for 30min, are offered by AirStar Helicopters (tel 928/638-2622) and Papillon Helicopters (tel 928/638-2419), who also operate $440 day-trips to the Havasupai Reservation. Unless otherwise specified, all the companies are in Tusayan , at or near the airport.
