The Lighthouse Inn at Point Cabrillo, located three miles north of the town of Mendocino, Calif., overlooks the active Point Cabrillo Lighthouse and Lightkeepers Museum. The inn is surrounded by the 270-acre Point Cabrillo Nature Preserve, and offers expansive views of the Pacific Ocean, where whales and seals can often be spotted in the distance. Three miles of bluff top trails are accessible from the property's grounds. The inn is approximately two miles from Casper Headlands State Beach, three miles from Mendocino Headlands State Park and eight miles from Fort Bragg, Calif.
The Lighthouse Inn at Point Cabrillo occupies a restored 1909 lightkeeper's house. Complimentary five-course gourmet breakfasts are served each morning, including organic coffee, freshly baked pastries, scones and entrees prepared with organic products from local gardens, farms and ranches. Complimentary wine and hor d'oeuvres are served each afternoon. The inn features complimentary wireless Internet access throughout the house. Fishing boats and wildlife, including over 50 different species of birds, can be viewed from the inn's porch, parlor or historic gardens. The proprietors of the inn offer private nighttime tours of the active lighthouse and its working Third Order Fresnel lens to willing guests. Pets are not allowed.
The inn's six guestrooms, positioned on coastal terraces 57 feet above the ocean's waves, feature private bathrooms and sitting areas furnished with period decor. Four rooms are located upstairs in the head lightkeeper's house, and two are located in separate garden cottages. Accommodations offer views of the ocean, nature preserve and garden. Cottages boast private patios.
