Location. Barefoot Beach Resort is located across the street from the beach in Indian Shores, Fla., 14 miles northwest of the city of St. Petersburg. The Florida Botanical Gardens, featuring a unique blend of Florida native plants and exotic tropical varieties displayed in natural and formal gardens, is five miles away. Restaurants and bars are available starting just a few blocks from the resort.
Features. This low-rise resort offers a large heated pool with lounge chairs. A fishing pier with boat docks and a private beach with a huge sand bar are available approximately 50 yards away across a two-lane road. Barbecue grills are available. Coin-operated laundry facilities are included in each building, and complimentary parking is provided.

Guestrooms. The Key West-style condos at Barefoot Beach Resort offer one or two bedrooms, well-appointed kitchens with granite countertops and 18-inch tile floors, and dining areas with seating for four. One-bedroom units offer white rattan furnishings, a dry bar and a separate Florida room. Two-bedroom units offer brown rattan furnishings, a wet bar and a separate Florida room. Fenced-in backyards and patios with garden or courtyard views are provided in first-floor units. All condos feature air conditioning, cable television, DVD players and CD players. Complimentary wireless Internet access is provided.

Expert Tip. Guest wanting their vacation to have an educational component can stop by the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, the country's largest wild bird hospital. Admission is free, and guests can see approximately 500 birds in the hospital at any given time with injuries caused by fishing hooks, clashes with other animals, or miscellaneous mishaps. The sanctuary has a 93-percent release rate for birds that survive the first day in the hospital.
