Apart from the horse farms directly to the north of Lexington, most places of interest lie to the south, like the fine old towns of Danville and Harrodsburg , and the restored Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill. After about forty miles, the meadows give way to the striking Knobs - random lumpy outcrops, shrouded in trees and wispy low-hanging clouds, that are the eroded remnants of the Pennyrile Plateau.
