Lexington: Arrival and information
Lexington's airport is six miles west of town on US-60 W, near Keeneland racetrack (handy for the jets of the horse-breeders). Greyhound drops off about a mile from downtown at 477 New Circle Rd - take bus #3 across the street from the bus station, in front of Wal-Mart, to get downtown. Lex-Tran (tel 859/253-4636) operates a good service from downtown to the university and suburbs, but you need a car to reach the horse-related attractions. The visitor center is in the Civic Center at 301 E Vine St (Mon-Fri 8.30am-5pm, Sat 10am-5pm, Sundays June-Aug noon-5pm; tel 859/233-7299 or 1-800/845-3959, ).
