Portland: Nightlife and entertainment

Maine's biggest gigs take place each summer roughly ten miles south of Portland at Old Orchard Beach . Popular sports bar with acres of pool tables, darts and enough TVs to satiate the most ardent sports fan.
Gritty McDuff's 396 Fore St tel 207/772-2739. Portland's first brewpub, serving food and their own Portland Head Pale Ale and Black Fly Stout at long wooden benches. There's sometimes folk music, and the friendly (if a little self-consciously British) atmosphere gets rowdy on Saturday night.
