Durham: Practicalities
Greyhound buses stop in Durham at 820 W Morgan St. Pick up maps and local information from the Durham visitor center , at 101 E Morgan St (Mon-Fri 8.30am-5pm, Sat 10am-2pm; tel 919/687-0288, ).Durham's Brightleaf Square , an upbeat, upmarket shopping area of restored tobacco warehouses off Main Street downtown, is a good bet for restaurants : try Anotherthyme , 109 N Gregson St (tel 919/682-5225), which specializes in creative pasta and seafood dishes with a Southwestern flavor. Durham has historically been at the center of the North Carolina Piedmont blues scene, with musicians such as Reverend Gary Davis playing for tips in the 1920s at Raleigh's tobacco markets. The town hosts the Bull Durham Blues Festival for a weekend in September (tel 919/983-1709).
