Location. The Mountain Brook Cottages are nestled on a wooded, brook-filled mountainside in Sylva, N.C. between the cities of Franklin and Dillsboro. This property is positioned one-quarter mile off US-441 in the Smoky Mountains. Hiking, biking, white-water rafting and horseback riding opportunities are available within 10 miles.
Features. This collection of cottages are located at 3,000 feet in a forest of towering hardwoods. Each cottage is unique, but all were built circa 1930 of native stone, log and brick. The sparkling brooks, undisturbed woodlands and waterfalls that surround the cottages provide a naturally scenic and secluded setting. Nature trails and a trout pond are located on the grounds. Barbecue and campfire areas are available. The property boasts a game room, and a creek-side Spa and Sauna Bungalow, which can be reserved for private use. Parking is available directly beside each cottage. Pets are not allowed.

Guestrooms. All private cabins feature fireplaces, front porch swings and modern bathrooms. Electric kitchens are equipped with coffeemakers, microwave ovens, stoves, refrigerators and   cookware. The romancer cottage features an open floor plan, allowing for views of the fireplace from the netted canopy bed. Telephones and televisions are deliberately omitted in the cabins to afford a quiet and uninterrupted ambience.

Expert Tip. The city of Franklin, N.C., known as the "gem mining capitol of the world," offers a gem museum and tours of   the mines. Most of the county's gem mines open for the season in early April.

Take I-26 West nine miles to I-40 West.
Take Exit 27 and stay on US-19/US-23/US-74 South.
When US-19 veers toward the right, stay towards the left on US-23/US-74 (Smoky Mountain Expressway).
Take Exit 81 (Franklin/Atlanta/US-441 South).
Follow the long ramp to the light in Dillsboro.
Go straight through the intersection.
Continue south on US-441 for nine miles.
There is a sign for Mountain Brook Cottages on the right.
