Location. The Historic Melrose Inn enjoys a sublime setting in the charming town of Tryon, N.C. Just one mile from the South Carolina border, the inn is located in what is known as a thermal belt in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Asheville, N.C. is about 40 miles from Tryon for a great day trip, with attractions such as the Vanderbilt's regal Biltmore Estate, and the summer residence of such great minds as Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and John D. Rockefeller.  
Hotel Features. Constructed in 1889, the inn has since been restored to its original grandeur. Guests are treated to a full gourmet breakfast, and afternoon tea and coffee. A barbeque grill is located in the delightful gardens and there is an outdoor sundeck with comfortable seating for visitors to take in the fresh mountain air. The on-site restaurant offers fine dining and gourmet specialty dishes such as Pan Sautéed Fresh Mountain Trout with Toasted Coconut Butter Cream and Carolina Soft Shell Blue Crab & Sherry Joliet. The pet-friendly inn has a full service bar and a common sitting room with daily newspapers. Meeting space is available and wireless Internet access is offered throughout the inn. Other amenities include a movie library and an ice machine.

Guestrooms. Each of the 16 guestrooms have been individually furnished and decorated. Coffeemakers and complimentary coffees are provided, and sweets are available at turndown.

Expert Tip. Chimney Rock Park is just over 20 miles from the inn, and features a 404-foot waterfall, hiking trails and views that extend over 75 miles.
Pets are allowed. Guests must call the number on their confirmation to see if their pet can be accommodated. A $100 deposit is required for damage and pet-related cleaning.

From Asheville Regional Airport:
Head north from NC-280.
Turn right onto the I-26 E entry ramp and continue for 18 miles.
Take Exit 59 to Saluda.
Bear right onto the ramp to Saluda/Spartanburg.
Turn right at Ozone Drive and continue for approximately one mile.
Turn left at US-176 and continue for seven miles.
Continue on N. Trade St for approximately one mile.
Turn right at Pacolet St.
Turn left at Chestnut St. and continue one-tenth of a mile to the inn.
