The Yellow House

Location. The Yellow House is located in Waynesville, N.C. Sitting atop a hill overlooking the meadows in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this bed and breakfast is found at an elevation of 3,000 feet above sea level. Less than 16 miles from the inn is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Features. Two perennial gardens, a bird garden, and an herb garden accent the property of The Yellow House. Behind the home are ponds stocked with goldfish and koi and spanned by an arching wooden bridge. A veranda wraps around the inn and features wicker chairs. The inn features a fireplace in the common room and a library. Full complimentary breakfasts are served every morning either on the veranda or in the dining room. Fax and photocopy services are available. Pets are not allowed.

Guestrooms. Guestrooms in The Yellow House offer varying themes and amenities. The E'staing suite is comprised of two rooms with decorations inspired by a rural village in southern France. A natural wood bed, dresser and shutters are offered along with a stone fireplace and wet bar. Both rooms in the E'staing suite open up onto a private balcony that provides a view of the mountains and the town. Bright colors contrast with the white walls of the Montecito guestroom and the iron four-poster bed. Bay windows in the room overlook the mountain ridge in the distance. The Carolina room offers a fireplace with a burnished gold screen and an antique federalist desk. The bathroom is decorated in a seashell theme.

Expert Tip. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is less than 16 miles from the inn, and offers over 270 miles of road that span over one- half million acres. The park provides bicycling, hiking, horseback riding, camping, picnicking and fishing opportunities. Wildlife, wildflowers and waterfall viewing is available as well as nearly 80 historic buildings that have been preserved on park grounds.
