Location. The Sugar Hill Inn B&B is located in Franconia, N.H., on Scenic Route 117. The bed and breakfast is one-quarter mile from Main Street in the quaint village of Sugar Hill. Franconia Notch State Park, which includes lakes, hiking trails and a bike path, is approximately nine miles from the inn. Three golf courses are available within 15 miles.
Features. This 1789 farm house features hand-hewn beams, wide pumpkin pine flooring and rippled-glass windows. Complimentary breakfasts consisting of fresh-brewed coffee, homemade muffins, juice and entrees such as gingerbread pancakes, old-fashioned hash or cinnamon-raisin bread French toast, are served each morning. Sweet breads, cookies, or scones, and a selection of herbal teas are set out each afternoon. Evening drinks and hors d'oeuvres are provided. Four-course prix fixe dinners are available for a fee. An on-site Spa Room provides treatments including Swedish, deep-tissue and hot stone massages. The grounds of the bed and breakfast feature an in-ground pool and gardens with large perennial beds. The stone veranda offers views of the White Mountains. Ski and bike storage are available.

Guestrooms. The Sugar Hill Inn B&B features classic rooms and deluxe rooms in the main building, and three two-room cottages located in a cluster just west of the inn. All accommodations include private bathrooms with specialty bath products, bathrobes and oversized towels. The deluxe rooms and cottages include gas fireplaces. Jetted tubs are featured in the deluxe rooms. Select accommodations boast adjoining private porches. Rooms are equipped with wireless Internet access.

Expert Tip. The Bette Davis room served as home to the actress herself while her home was being built, and even occasionally after it was completed when her own residence became too crowded with visitors.
