Kelleys Island: Practicalities
The Kelleys Island
Chamber of Commerce
(summer daily 10am-5pm; tel 419/746-2360) is on Division Street straight up from the
Island Rocket
dock. Getting around is easy; cars are heavily discouraged, and most people, when not strolling, use
bikes
($2 per hour/$8 per day) or
golf carts
($12 per hour/$65 per day), available from First Place Rentals, at the top of the Neuman ferry dock (tel 419/746-2314). A few
B&Bs
and inns can be reserved through the chamber. One comfortable option is
The Inn on Kelleys Island
, 317 W Lakeshore Drive (tel 866/878-2135,
; $75-100), a restored nineteenth-century Victorian home with a great lake view and a private beach. You can
camp
for $15 at the first-come, first-served state park on the north bay near the beach. The jovial
Village Pump
(tel 419/746-2281) serves good home-style
food and drink
until 2am. The menu at the
Island Café & Brew Pub
(tel 419/746-2314) includes several options for vegetarians.
