Cincinnati: Nightlife and entertainment
After dark, the hottest area with the widest appeal is the Over-the-Rhine district, which fans out from Main Street, around 12th and 14th, and buzzes every night - though be careful where you park or walk as it backs onto some dodgy areas. The bars, restaurants and cafés of scenic Mount Adams offer a good choice of music, food and atmosphere, especially on warm summer nights, when the narrow streets are full of revelers. The studenty Corryville neighborhood, a five-minute drive northwest from downtown, has a lively undergraduate edge, while Covington Landing , Kentucky, is busy but bland. A proliferation of brewpubs has sprung up all over town in the past few years, always dependable for a good drink in friendly surroundings. A fun and funky downtown spot, it's a favorite with jazz fans, though it also puts on roots and acoustic acts. Good restaurant upstairs.
Blind Lemon 936 Hatch St, Mount Adams tel 513/241-3885. Beyond the intimate, low-ceilinged bar, you'll find a relaxed patio crowd. Music (mostly acoustic) nightly at 9.30.
Bogart's 2621 Vine St, Corryville tel 513/281-8400. Established indie acts play this mid-sized venue directly opposite Sudsy Malone's .
BrewWorks 1115 Main St, Covington, KY tel 859/581-2739. This big, boisterous brewpub pours the best microbrewed ales in town.
The Pavilion 949 Pavilion St, Mount Adams tel 513/744-9200. The bar has great views of the city and the Ohio River from its terraced outdoor deck.
Rhythm & Blues Café 1142 Main St, Over-the-Rhine tel 513/684-0080. Good food and great atmosphere. Live rock, blues and various genres every Wed, Fri and Sat nights.
Sudsy Malone's Rock & Roll Laundry & Bar 2626 Vine St, Corryville tel 513/751-2300. You can drink beer, catch a live indie act and wash your clothes all at the same time in this fun Corryville landmark. Daily 7am-2am.
Warehouse 1313 Vine St, Over-the-Rhine tel 513/684-9313. A popular dance club, it plays alternative and industrial sounds midweek and the latest house at weekends.
