Tulsa: Nightlife and entertainment
There is even less to do in downtown Tulsa after dark than during the day; 15th and Cherry streets just south of downtown, and S Peoria Avenue by the river, are much livelier. If you visit in early September, try to catch the zydeco music and Creole cooking at the Backdoor Cajun Music Festival . Discoveryland ! 10 miles west of downtown on W 41st St tel 918/742-5255 or 1-800/245-6552. Outdoor venue for performances of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma ! Mon-Sat, June-Aug; $15; pre-show barbecue 5.30pm, $9.
The Majestic Brady St and Boston Ave tel 918/584-9494. Live music in a converted warehouse; cover charge also gets you into The Bowery , a smaller bar one block up at 201 N Main St.
Spotlight Theatre 1381 Riverside Drive tel 918/587-5030. This Art Deco building has been hosting the melodrama The Drunkard for the past fifty years - accompanied by pretzels and sandwiches, every Sat at 8.15pm.
Steamroller Blues Barbeque 18th St and Boston Ave tel 918/583-9520. Popular live venue, with the best performances at weekends.
