The Monarch is a 10-minute drive from the historic community of Oregon City, the first incorporated city in the United States west of the Mississippi River and a former British trading post opened in 1829. Several historic sites and museums are in the area, including the end of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, marking the end of the famed covered wagon route from Missouri for over 300,000 pioneer settlers of the West.
