Location. Located on a mountaintop in the village of Monteagle, Tenn., the Edgeworth Inn offers a secluded setting atop the Cumberland Plateau. The area offers opportunities for hiking, rappelling, boating and fishing within five miles of the inn. The University of the South is approximately five miles away.
Features. This 1896 Queen Anne is fronted by a stone and brick entrance and a spacious front porch. A flower and herb garden enhances a courtyard, and the cottage decor has been carefully designed so as to preserve the historical atmosphere. Full, complimentary breakfasts and afternoon tea are served daily. Complimentary wired and wireless Internet access is available. Common areas feature warm Mediterranean colors and soft music. The inn includes a library, sitting rooms and a gift shop. An outdoor pool is open from June through August, and the inn's wide veranda is furnished with rocking chairs. Cedars, river birches and native shrubs border the property on all sides, providing shady, green areas for lounging in Adirondack chairs. Pets are not allowed at the property.

Guestrooms. The Edgeworth Inn features 13 guestrooms decorated in soft colors. All accommodations feature private bathrooms, most with original Victorian claw-foot tubs. Carriage house level rooms, which open into a garden, feature original tile floors. All units offer air conditioning and central heating. Select rooms are furnished with fireplaces and canopy beds. All suites feature white bed and bath linens including coverlets, towels, and down and poly pillows.

Expert Tip. The Monteagle Sunday School Assembly, a peaceful Christian community filled with architecturally-significant Victorian cottages, allows guests of the inn to participate in community activities including seminars and complimentary movie viewing in a casual theater.

Approximate distance to the property is 80 miles.

Take Interstate 24 West to Exit 134.
Turn right after one-half mile.
Look for the green ATM sign on the left and turn left onto Assembly Avenue.
Go under the Monteagle Assembly archway and through the gatehouse.
Follow the one-way sign for 1/10 of one mile to the bottom of the hill.
Make a hard right on Chestnut Hill.
Turn left at the dead end and park at the check-in area.
