Mariposa Ranch Bed and Breakfast is located on a 100-acre working ranch on the historic La Bahia Trail, and offers guests a choice of accommodations, including houses, cabins, and cottages, all historically significant and lovingly restored and furnished in what could be called "casual elegance". Most accommodations are suites or cottages offering guests the utmost in privacy and comfort.  At the ranch, indulge yourself in the charming surroundings with live oak trees, views for miles, sumptuous breakfasts (delivered in bed), in-room massages, candlelight dinners and the crackling fire in the privacy of your own room or cottage. Take time and relax in the sauna or hot tub, or lie out on the sun deck and take in the Texas rays. This 100-acre spread is as rich in history and tradition and as colorful as the bluebonnets that purple the hills each spring.
Accommodations in eight buildings include two large rooms in an 1870 Plantation home, an 1825 log cabin, a quaint cottage, two luxurious suites in an 1836 Greek Revival home, a turn-of-the-century Texas farmhouse (the original homestead on this working ranch) and a real ranch hand's bunkhouse, and a real cowboy cabin.  Standard and Deluxe Standard rooms include air- conditioning, a color TV with VCR, a radio alarm clock, and a private patio. Deluxe rooms feature a mini-refrigerator, a fireplace and satellite TV with VCR.  Premium rooms, as well as the Cabin and the Cottage, all feature air- conditioning, a radio alarm clock, bathrobes, a ceiling fan, daily newspapers, high-speed Internet access, a living room/dining area, color TV (most with VCR), and a Jacuzzi-for-two tub.

There's plenty to do in Washington County: tour Blue Bell Creameries, visit the Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park, Star of the Republic Museum, Brenham Heritage Museum, or the Giddings-Wilkin House Museum. Walk through and select from acres of vintage plants and seasonal flowers, all the time gathering wonderful gardening ideas to take back home, at Ellison's Greenhouses and the Antique Rose Emporium. The Pleasant Hill Winery is open for tastings, great wine information and a look at their unique antique corkscrew collection. We are only 5 minutes from Lake Somerville, which offers para sailing, jet-ski rentals, fishing, boating and two sandy beaches for swimming. The George Bush Presidential Library and Texas A&M University are only a half hour away and Festival Institute at Round Top is outstanding. South of Round Top you will find The Jersey Barnyard, a dairy offering cheese made right on the farm.

Kennedy Boulevard and take the Beltway 8 West ramp towards I-45.  Turn right onto Beltway 8/North Sam Houston Parkway East/North Belt Drive East.  Merge onto Beltway 8 West/Sam Houston Parkway West via the ramp on the left toward I-45.  Beltway 8 West/Sam Houston Parkway West becomes Sam Houston Tollway West (Portions toll).  Merge onto US 290 West towards Austin and continue for 58.4 miles.  Merge onto TX-36 North.  Turn right onto FM 390. Turn left onto Mariposa Lane and follow to property.
