Bainbridge and Vashon islands: Onward to Canada and Alaska
Victoria on Vancouver Island in Canada is just two to three hours by the high-speed, passenger-only Victoria Clipper from Seattle's Pier 69 (summer four daily, winter one daily; $56-68 one-way, $90-110 round-trip; tel 206/448-5000, ). Other services to Vancouver Island from Washington State run out of Anacortes, Port Angeles and Bellingham. Kenmore Air schedules five flights daily from downtown Seattle on Lake Union to Victoria (tel 1-800/543-9595; $110 one-way, $181 round-trip; ), as well as six flights to the San Juan islands ($96 one-way, $159 round-trip).The much more expensive Alaska Marine Highway (tel 360/676-0212 recorded schedule information, tel 360/676-8445 administrative office, ; winter $256, summer $282) is a three-day ferry ride that winds between islands and a fjord-lined coast from Bellingham , ninety miles north of Seattle, to Skagway, Alaska.
