Greyhound does regular bus runs to Milwaukee, Green Bay and beyond, while Badger Coaches make six trips daily to Milwaukee ($22 round-trip; tel 608/255-6771, ). Both operate out of the terminal at 2 S Bedford St. Van Galder buses depart from the Memorial Union to Chicago's O'Hare Airport (10 daily; $21; tel 608/752-5407 or 1-800/747-0994, ). The visitor center is at 615 E Washington Ave (Mon-Fri 8am-4.30pm; tel 608/258-4959 or 1-800/373-MDSN, ).State Street is a veritable smorgasbord of food and drink , from the tiny Nepalese Himal Chuli at no. 318 (tel 608/251-9225) and its sister restaurant, Chautara , at no. 334 (tel 608/251-3626), to the veteran Ella's Deli at 2902 E Washington (tel 608/241-5291), with its kosher-style food and rich ice creams. Deb & Lola's at no. 227 (tel 608/255-0820) serves fresh, eclectic Southwestern-influenced cuisine. The Essen Haus , 514 E Wilson St (tel 608/255-4674), is a raucous biergarten with a phenomenal selection of beers. Dotty Dumpling's Dowry , 116 N Fairchild St (tel 608/255-3175), is a local landmark thanks to its great burgers and kooky nostalgic decor.
There's plenty of entertainment , often free, on campus (call the events line on 608/265-3000). The soulful neighborhood Crystal Corner , 1302 Williamson St (tel 608/256-2953), puts on blues acts, while O'Cayz Corral , 504 E Wilson St (tel 608/256-1348), ranges through heavy metal, folk and acoustic. The Cardinal , 418 E Wilson St (tel 608/251-0080), with its handsome 1908 decor, is one of the best dance club-cum-bars. The free weekly Isthmus carries full listings.
