Casper: Practicalities
Powder River buses , serving Cheyenne, Denver, Cody, Billings and Rapid City, have a base at the Parkway Plaza Hotel , 123 W E St (tel 307/266-1904 or 1-800/442-3682), south of the visitor center at 500 N Center St (summer Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, Sat & Sun 9am-6pm; rest of year Mon-Fri 9am-5pm; tel 307/234-5362 or 1-800/852-1889, ). Of Casper's bargain motels , the downtown National 9 Showboat Motel , 100 W F St (tel 307/235-2711 or 1-800/524-9999; $35-50), with its flashing neon lights and waterbeds, is pleasantly kitsch. Antelope Campground at 1101 Prairie Lane, Bar Nunn, exit 191 off I-25, offers camping for $12 a tent site (tel 307/577-1664); they have a pool, hot tub and laundry to boot. The Cheese Barrel , 544 S Center St (tel 307/235-5202), serves great breakfasts and sticky cheese bread; while La Casacita , at 633 W Collins Drive (tel 307/234-7633), is a good bet for Mexican food.
